Biography
Wow! How can it suddenly be 50 years since high school? And,
how do we summarize what happened in between in a couple of
paragraphs?
Here
goes: After college I began a career with Cadillac in Detroit,
transferring several times and eventually winding up in Northern
California where we have lived since 1972. While at Cadillac,
I met my wife Kathy, married in 1968, and had two children,
Jeff and Lisa, now 39 and 36 respectively. I left Cadillac
in 1976 and purchased a GM dealership (which now includes
Mazda and Subaru) in Ukiah, CA, the Mendocino County seat,
in the wine country north of San Francisco, where we raised
our two children. After 34 years together, Kathy and I divorced
and she is now a successful GM/Chrysler dealer herself in
adjacent Lake County.
In
2007 I married Jeanie, a long time educator. In addition to
Lisa, Jeff, his wife Jenny and their two sons, Cole (4) and
Brody (2), our family has expanded to include Lisa’s
new husband, Chris, Jeanie’s two sons, Micah (www.boomerangproject.com)
and Noah (www.jacobsonbreen.com)
their wives, and four additional grandchildren.. Jeff now
runs our two dealerships: (www.fowlerautocenter.com),
(www.kathyfowlerchevy.com),
while Jeanie and I split our time between my home in Ukiah
and hers in Marin County. We are enjoying semi-retirement,
playing tennis and traveling. Lisa’s October wedding
in Maui was an opportunity in the sun and surf to celebrate,
with Chris’s family, both the new marriage and Lisa’s
recent completion of her doctorate in psychology. She and
Chris live in Carmel Valley, CA.
Over
the years I have maintained contact with several of our class
members, including Nancy (Kretchman) Golden, Dick Groth, and
Joe Englert. I really look forward to seeing many others in
August at our 50th. Dick, Joyce, Jeanie and I spend a delightful
week cruising to Alaska on the Diamond Princess a couple of
years ago. My Facebook page is proof that I have joined the
digital revolution. I can be reached at kenfowler01@hotmail.com.
I am not yet in the “Twitter” mode.
Best
Regards to all,
Ken
